How can I tell you.....

I saw her on my way to a lecture
Suddenly she was there, chatting with friends
An opportunity for which I was grateful; a God send
Didn’t miss out on the chance, how could I?

Indeed, she has an enchanting smile
On impact its warmth spreads through your soul
Rays of the sun dancing around her and reflecting light
Oh! How she glowed, words cannot describe

Many things I’d been longing to tell her from the start
About the manner she makes me feel, act and think
Time’s short making it all too tricky; I feel shackled!!
Why can’t it be different? Wish I had more time

I remember both of us on the sands gazing out to sea
Wrapped in a gusty wind blanket, shaded by cerulean skies
The moment was perfect, nothing could have been better
How I long for that same dream to reappear

Tell me...........how can I tell you??

Why me!?! For crying out loud....

I must say this tagging business seems to creep up on you out of nowhere. As I found out from Miss. Model's previous post, I have made the tagging club. My reaction after seeing the last of the post was 'woman, you had to tag me didn't you!!.' Nevertheless, being a very kind hearted person (I just thought of saying that) I thought of obliging.

7 Facts about Me

I’m an extrovert for the most part with a bit of introversion running through my veins.

I like to take things easy, one-step at a time, although it’s never going to be that way. Humour is a very close friend of mine, for better and for worse.

A tendency to be quite irritating and sometimes overly sarcastic, which tends to upset a few people. Did I mention the occasional bluntness??

I have always been realistic in dealing with many issues. I must confess dreams are nice, but not for me.

I’m always infusing a lot of effort in trying to live up to expectations.

Constantly making promises to reform, enhance and better myself as compared to the present. I’ll get there in due time, eventually!!!

I tend to shift my mood from time to time. I behave according to how I feel in a given period of time, but it’s not always the case. As a thespian, I've acquired acting skills to mask my moods.

7 Quirks

I’m a very meticulous person in every aspect, and everything should be proper. That being said, it never always turns up exactly proper. Arrgh!!

There is a slight ‘gay streak’ that emerges occasionally. It does scare a lot of people around me, mostly MB. I’ve never had gay dreams, thank God!!!

A habit of giving people those I’ve known for sometime whacky nicknames.

I talk to myself (when no one’s around, of course) about things that are going on in my life.

I have a strange liking for the British accent, and I’m quite good at it. I like to talk that way too!!

Sometimes conversations can get a bit kinky, but I limit it only to guys. Don’t want women to get the wrong idea, no??

There is also the ability to fire ‘gas bombs’ when in the presence of a gathering, quite uncanny. It has so far not happened amidst ladies’.

Reborn to something better minus the sin

On Sunday, I was fortunate to be part of something beautiful, something that ripped through my very existence on this earth. It made me feel inferior, performing below-par, ungrateful for what I had in life- quite a shameful situation. On my way to the scene -the place in which the activity to take place- I questioned myself.

Why can’t I do better?? How can I not keep delaying things, procrastinating, and overcome my laziness?? I knew that I could do better, yet why the hesitation??

The activity: a brother reverted to Islam, before him, his sister had embraced Islam a few years back. I was told that he was a sceptic, always asking questions from his sister about the greatness of Islam. What Islam could possibly offer a person, and many other negative queries! In the end, he became a believer, and then decided to take the final plunge. He was ready.....ready to become a Muslim. I cannot fathom of his thought process before reverting, but Alhamdulillah, he came back to his true faith. Looking into his eyes, I couldn’t see any form of hesitation, signs of cold feet- this man was ready for the challenge.

And there I was, born a Muslim, not living the life as prescribed to me. I had a sinking feeling in my heart. Yes, I was steadily drowning in a pool of guilt. When he said the shahada, it was nothing short of marvellous- my hairs stood on its end. I swear. I’m happy of my little part in partaking in the ceremony.

*****************

My idea of chilling this semester was blown to smithereens upon my unexpected realisation that I was short of one subject to graduate. How many ‘unexpected’ incidents can you possibly expect in your final sem? I’d compare this to a blunder of unrivalled proportions. Oh boy! I sure did it this time.

Do you expect graduating students to get everything right?? Wait.....don’t answer that question. I know all you people haven’t messed up the credit count to graduate. Would it help if I said that the subject is an elective, thus I lost track?? Naaah, even that sounds so stupid.

I feel like a dunce in Arabic class. It seems that everyone knows more Arabic except for MB and I. They even get the Arabic jokes said by the lecturer; at these instances both of us look at each other and make weird, but not-so-offensive faces. Women in the class seem to have Arabic genes rushing out of their pores. These women know the meaning of every word in the text book- almost all the words.

My lecturer for international management used the word ‘duh’ during class; referring to an oral midterm that is to come next month. She demands that everyone wear ‘proper’ attire to lectures, giving me the chance to wear my many shirts. Its official then, Tuesday and Thursday are ‘smart clothing’ days, and according to the lecturer its a sure stop-ladies-in-their-tracks endeavour.

How the cookie crumbles

I just received news that the army had captured the heart of rebel territory, the bastion of LTTE pride, which they have been flaunting for so long. I must say, it's about time that we gave them a run for all the pain being caused over quarter of a century. I feel very proud of the forces for risking what they hold most dear- their lives- in order to complete such a offensive. I couldn't believe it when I read emak's sms. I thought it was too soon for the terrorists to give up.

Indeed, the forces are gaining significant ground, while the LTTE runs with tails behind their legs. This is one of the battles in which we have come out victorious, the war is far from being won. But I have a feeling that an end is near. Where all the territories will come under one sovereign rule, part of one Sri Lanka.

Today, after prayers there was a protest outside the mosque against the Israeli onslaught against Palestine. The ironic part being, none of the Palestinians were to be seen.

Hmmm.....how about that??

Let me be very realistic about this whole thing. Only actions can get the Muslims noticed and not burning effigies, or protests, or statements condemning the attacks. We will not be taken seriously at all. That's why we are being abused over and over again..... and it doesn't look like stopping anytime soon.

My views on terrorism on another day.....until then, ciao!!!

Holding on to the hands of time, I don’t want to let go.

All the mates got ready for new years’ eve, and I for obvious reasons, this being my last year in uni. I along with a few others wanted to make it a time to remember because who knows what’s in store for the future. As usual, we planned on going to KLCC to welcome the new year, and then wander off depending on the majority vote.

KLCC was packed to capacity with revellers from all walks of life. Many were over flowing with the party spirit, thus engaging in many activities. We arrived about 30 minutes before midnight. The fountain was in full operation inclusive of colourful lights projected towards the shooting water. I really liked that, very pleasing to watch. Nearing the stroke of midnight people got very anxious- my friends included. Most started to scream their heads off, but I failed to see a point in it. I mean, come on, it’s not like I’m dying to lose my voice or anything!!! A 5 minute display of fire works was without a doubt breath taking. Then it got me thinking as to how many millions would have been spent on it?? Something about the Petronas towers in all its glory makes my insides tingle. I daresay, they tingle a lot. If I could bottle up the beauty of those towers and take it with me, I will not hesitate for a second.

Upon reaching Bukit Bintang (BB), my first images were of a foreigner lying under a car being beat up by a mob. He staggered to his feet; face covered and dripping in blood, and made a dash away from his tormentors. A few from the mob did give a chase, but gave up half way. Few seconds later, a pair of Africans was running for their lives. These were big made chaps, but against a mob they hardly stood any chance. One of our guys had someone bark at him in the local lingo. Coming colour was definitely not good; we turned around not wanting to get beaten to death. As they say.....safety first!!! I couldn’t help thinking that certain locals really despise foreigners. Given my observations and previous experience the atmosphere is turning ominous.

I don’t see the point in spraying people soapy foam from a canister. In my opinion, it’s just a waste of effort, intellect, and not to mention money. I’m proud to say that I didn’t indulge in that worthless activity. I loathe such behaviour depicting humans as being primitive.

Coming back to campus past 2am is a foolish endeavour. A convoy of taxis proceeded towards campus, a total of 3, and I was in the second car. When I arrived near the gate my friends who had gone in the first car were being issued with fines. What did we do then?? Thinking on our feet, we turned the car around stopping at Idaman, not to mention paying double. God bless the restaurants operating 24 hrs, we made a beeline to one named Deen. All the walking had given me an appetite- Maggie goreng and iced Milo is a life saver. We made a surprise appearance at a friends house in Idaman to find out all its inhabitants were wide awake. After all, we needed a place to kill the time until morning. In order to pass time most of us played cards. I must also mention that my team won. It’s the ego, if you know what I mean.

Catching a taxi in the morning and halfway to campus the driver made a sudden swerve making the passenger’s jump- scary shit!! He had fallen asleep at the wheel for a few seconds. Thankfully, nothing life threatening occurred. We arrived in campus at 7am stopping the car at the econ bus stop. A couple already there knew both I and MB, and looked absolutely startled. I bid them a ‘good night’ and went to hit the sack.

Scores of issues, thoughts, ideas, problems were disturbing my cognitive neurons. More on that later, this post is much too long already.
