Time brings closer the final mile

It has been quite a long time prior to my last entry. Many occurrences have taken place that have made me wonder that I will definitely not forget my final sem. At the onset the target was to take it easy, rather chill. But as the sem took its course ‘chilling’ was far from happening. At the maximum, there would be another 45 days of undergrad life including the exam period. Thereafter, it would be another phase; another experience; another set of rules and standards; another lifestyle needing adaptation- another cycle begins. That cycle will beckon a level of adherence, which no doubt will be elevated than the current. I found out that my last exam paper will be on 12 April, and couldn’t help but smile at the thought. It would be exactly four years since the day I first set foot in Malaysia, but only a few hours past. I just cannot imagine a more symbolic exit than this- almost too perfect.

Apparently, my class mates don’t have any PR skills in handling ‘the mafia.’ Most of the time these idiots (yes....idiots) do something or the other that would send her off the cliff. First, it happened on our day of presenting when our discussant group was absent save for one member. She blew her top, and I have not witnessed such a scene in all my life in uni. It was a level just mildly lower to throwing a fit. The presentation was postponed to next class after a series of verbal volleys lasting a good 20 min; an earful indeed. On the second day, our presentation was smooth, but the discussant group for the second in line to present were ‘missing.’ This time she sent our group out of the class and scolded the rest, which was quite a relief. But wait, the best so far is yet to be told. We are supposed to choose a country in making an almost-realistic feasibility analysis for Tune hotels, Singapore and Indonesia cannot be chosen as mentioned in the course outline. Then some ‘doofus’ cheerfully says “Indonesia” even that after some deliberation with his group mates. She gave such a stare, I felt myself melting and bracing for the storm because the calm before it is always short lived. Then it came....

“Haven’t your seniors told you not to mess with me?.....ANSWER ME!!!” We replied in the affirmative, MB and I a bit louder than the rest.

“Then WHY are you MESSING with ME??”

I always thought incompetence has a ceiling, but this was just absurd. I seriously don’t want to take second hand crap because of other people- period. The good part is our group rocks!!!

Arabic mid term on Sunday night, E-commerce mid term on Monday morning, presentation for Da’wah on Tuesday, an article review on Thursday, and a mid term on Friday. You just read my schedule for the week, and I survived it. I aced the Arabic mid term, despite feeling retarded in class and complaining about it, thus it gives me bragging rights. Spending about 6 hours heating up your chair will give you an output in the form of an article review with 2963 words- talk about efficiency!!! E-commerce has 50 pages in average reading material per chapter; reading 3 chapters of this book is like reading 5 chapters on earlier occasions. Beyond a certain point I felt like puking my guts out!!! I survived this week like many others alike it, a bit deprived of sleep and much needed leisure, but aint nothing gona keep me down. Hell yeah!!

There are a lot of things that I should be focusing on right now- one is searching for a job. I have no idea how it’s going to work out, but optimistic I stand. One thing about this final semester is that surprises keep on coming like ocean waves. Little ones and big ones make no difference now.....not when you’ve experienced it all.

I can’t help feeling that this final sem is giving me more than what I’ve got throughout my years. One aspect is in terms of food. It all started with me rescuing a flash drive for Ms. Hot resulting in breakfast. Then my Chinese group mate invited us to her apartment for lunch for giving her encouragement for the presentation. The other incident was macaroni coming to my doorstep, which made me, think of all the goodness I’ve done. My roomies were like “dude, you got food, drinks, and even fried banana’s!!!” Then yesterday, I got cake because of a girl’s first birthday whose father is from the motherland. I know there is a limit to everything, but I wonder what else will come my way?? Hey, what could possibly happen in another 45 days or so??

Hmmmmm............I can only wonder.

p.s- Its too bad the actual video of Chumbawamba couldn't be found, but did was quite animated so it will do.
